More than anything, Auggie loves learning chess from his dad.
What he doesn't love is his new home and his big, busy new school. Here all the kids seem like the kings and queens on a chessboard—and he feels like a tiny pawn.  Can chess give Auggie the confidence to do something even harder than checkmating his dad: making a friend?

A visit to my studio for a look into the making of the artwork for the book.
